Florida – Low gray clouds hang heavy over Tallahassee this morning, wrapping the city in damp, early December air. Winds from the south carry hints of warm Gulf moisture, fueling scattered showers and a few claps of thunder across the I-10 corridor. Headlights shimmer through steady rainfall as commuters navigate slick, ponding roadways into the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, showers and isolated thunderstorms will linger through early afternoon, with rain chances near 80% before skies gradually clear later in the day. Temperatures will climb to around 72°F, dropping sharply to the low 40s tonight as cooler, drier air arrives from the northwest.

Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time, especially through low-lying areas prone to pooling water. Visibility could briefly drop in heavier downpours. The wet weather clears by midweek, bringing mostly sunny skies and highs in the 60s Wednesday and Thursday — a calm stretch before another rain chance returns Friday into Saturday.

This warm-to-cool shift marks Florida’s early December transition, a reminder that while much of the nation braces for snow and ice, the Sunshine State still faces its share of travel challenges — fog, slick roads, and quick-hitting storms.

Keep umbrellas handy through this afternoon, and take care on I-10, Route 319, and local roads as puddles build.
