Harrisburg, PA – Neuhaus Chocolates has recalled select batches of its Belgian Chocolate Moments Smurfs “Popping Milk Chocolates with Cookies” sold in New York, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., due to undeclared wheat, which could trigger serious allergic reactions in people with wheat or gluten sensitivity.

According to the company, the affected chocolates were available between July 21 and Aug. 4 in Neuhaus retail stores and through its U.S. online shop. The recall applies to batch numbers 80108690 and 80108763, both carrying a best-before date of Jan. 13, 2026.

Neuhaus said only about 150 units were sold before the issue was detected during internal checks. No allergic reactions or complaints have been reported. The company attributed the labeling omission to a rare system error that left wheat off the ingredient list.

Customers with wheat allergies are advised not to eat the chocolates and to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Questions can be directed to Neuhaus customer care at +32 2 568 23 00 or customercare@neuhaus.be, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CEST.

The recall affects only the specified batches and no other Neuhaus products. The company has stated that additional safeguards have been implemented to prevent similar labeling issues in the future.
