Urbana, Illinois – Two suspects, including an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old juvenile, were arrested in Urbana on Tuesday morning in connection to a February fatal shooting.

According to the Urbana Police Department, members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force executed arrest warrants around 9:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Burlison Drive. Authorities identified one of the suspects as 18-year-old Dekarri Trice. Both Trice and the juvenile are facing charges of first-degree murder.

The charges stem from the February 2025 fatal shooting of 18-year-old Sherman McCraney, which occurred in the 2000 block of Vawter Avenue. Police said Urbana detectives, alongside the Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force, also executed a search warrant following Tuesday’s arrests.

The Urbana Police Department thanked the assisting agencies for their help in carrying out the warrants safely. Officials emphasized that both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact Urbana Police at 217-384-2320.
