A crisp chill lingers across the Upstate this morning, with temperatures dipping to the mid-20s under partly cloudy skies. Drivers in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Gaffney may notice light frost on rooftops and windshields before sunshine takes over later today. Despite the cold start, calmer winds and brighter skies signal a gradual warm-up as the week continues.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, highs will climb near 41°F today, with light breezes shifting southwest by Wednesday. That change in wind direction will usher in a mild, breezy midweek stretch — highs reaching the low-50s Wednesday and near 54°F Thursday. Some gusts may top 25–30 mph midweek, especially over higher terrain.
The pattern remains stable through Friday with clear skies and seasonably cool nights, perfect for outdoor holiday activities and early decorating. Lows will stay near or below freezing each night through Thursday before slightly moderating into the weekend.
By Saturday, the region will flirt with upper-50s to near 60°F, a brief December reprieve before colder air looks to return next week. While no rain is expected through the weekend, models hint that the next front arriving Dec. 15–17 could deliver much-needed precipitation — and perhaps a “winter tease” as the season’s first Arctic push edges toward the Southeast.
