Greenville, SC – Scattered showers across the Upstate are expected to fade out by sunset today as the remnants of Imelda move east and out over the Atlantic. Forecasters say drier, cooler autumn weather will settle in starting Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg office, skies will remain mostly cloudy through the afternoon, helping to keep temperatures a few degrees below normal. Highs will stay in the 70s for much of the region, with some higher elevations only reaching the 60s.

The last of today’s light showers should end by this evening, with no widespread rainfall expected after that. “A stretch of dry autumn weather will start on Wednesday,” the NWS said in its Tuesday morning update.

The forecast calls for classic fall-like conditions to take hold for the rest of the week, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and plenty of sunshine. Residents can expect mild afternoons and crisp mornings — a noticeable change from the recent humid and rainy pattern.

Motorists should see improved travel conditions by Wednesday morning, with no lingering rain delays. Outdoor events and activities later this week are also expected to benefit from the drier weather.
