Buffalo, NY – A new round of lake-effect rainfall is expected to impact parts of western and central New York through Friday, shifting southward from areas northeast of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
Forecasters report that rainfall totals will vary widely, with up to 2 inches possible near Pulaski and 1 to 1.5 inches in parts of Jamestown and Chautauqua County. Meanwhile, lighter amounts between a quarter and a half inch are expected from Buffalo to Rochester and along the I-90 corridor.
The rain will continue through late Thursday and into Friday morning as lake-effect bands move southward. Wet roads and reduced visibility are possible during heavier bursts, especially east of both lakes.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve late Friday as the rain diminishes and cooler, drier air filters into the region for the weekend.
