Binghamton, N.Y. – Cooler, drier air is sweeping across much of central and southern New York today, offering a rare July break from heat and humidity. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid to upper 70s, with clearer skies expected by early afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a high-pressure system is in control, bringing light northwest winds and seasonably cool air into the region. Morning cloud cover will gradually give way to sunny conditions across cities like Syracuse, Ithaca, and Binghamton.
Highs will reach 74°F in Syracuse, 78°F in Binghamton, and 82°F in Milford. Overnight lows tonight will dip into the low 50s for most areas, with parts of the north like Boonville dropping to a brisk 48°F—well below average for mid-July.
Residents may want to consider a light jacket tonight, especially in higher elevations and rural valleys. Outdoor plans today are in great shape with no rain in the forecast, and humidity levels remaining low.
Clear skies and continued mild weather are expected into Friday, though patchy morning fog could return in some valleys.
