Albany, NY – Snow showers are set to make a return to Upstate New York this weekend, with additional snowfall likely early next week. Residents should prepare for changing road conditions and colder temperatures as the region braces for a prolonged winter pattern.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, scattered snow showers are expected Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Though accumulation is predicted to stay under an inch, slick roadways could develop, particularly along highways like I-90 and I-87. Snow chances will continue into Sunday and Monday, with the possibility of heavier accumulation early next week.

Sunday’s forecast calls for highs near 33 degrees with a mix of sunshine and scattered snow showers. Overnight lows will dip into the teens, potentially creating icy patches. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will bring partly sunny skies, but snow showers could return by evening, signaling a possible storm system developing into Tuesday.

Drivers should exercise caution and plan for longer commutes, especially during morning hours. Local road crews are preparing to treat surfaces, but residents should remain vigilant, especially on untreated streets and sidewalks.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for real-time updates, and ensure snow removal tools and winter essentials are ready for use. This weekend’s snowfall could be a preview of more substantial accumulations early next week.
