Binghamton, N.Y. – Farmers and gardeners across Central and Northern New York should prepare for patchy frost overnight as temperatures dip into the 30s through early Tuesday morning. Sensitive plants could be damaged or killed if left uncovered.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, frost advisories remain in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday for Northern Oneida County, including Boonville, as well as Chenango, Otsego, and Delaware Counties, covering cities such as Norwich, Oneonta, Walton, and Delhi. Lows are expected between 33 and 37 degrees, with the coldest pockets in unsheltered and valley locations.

Residents are urged to cover tender outdoor vegetation or bring plants indoors before temperatures fall late Monday night. Farmers and growers across these rural areas may face losses if precautions aren’t taken. Motorists in higher terrain should also prepare for patchy fog and reduced visibility in the early morning hours.

The chill marks one of the season’s first widespread frost events across upstate New York, signaling an early taste of autumn weather. Advisories could expand if skies remain clear and winds calm again later this week.
