Albany, N.Y. – Skies will stay mostly clear across eastern New York tonight, but dropping temperatures could bring a touch of frost to low-lying and rural areas by early Saturday morning. Overnight lows are expected to settle in the upper 30s to lower 40s across much of the region, keeping conditions crisp but not as cold as Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, patchy frost may form in sheltered valleys and outlying communities, especially north and east of the Capital Region. Areas like Glens Falls, Bennington, and Keene could see temperatures dip into the upper 30s, while Albany, Hunter, and Cobleskill will bottom out around 43 degrees.

Drivers in rural counties should use caution on backroads early Saturday, as frost could reduce visibility on windshields and make for slick surfaces in shaded areas. Residents are also encouraged to protect sensitive plants overnight as growing season conditions begin to shift.

Lows will moderate slightly by Sunday as clouds increase, but cooler nights remain likely into next week. The National Weather Service says any additional frost advisories could be issued if colder air returns.
