Albany, NY – Snow showers will return to portions of Eastern New York and Southern Vermont today as clouds increase across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Albany. Forecasters expect the most significant snowfall across the southwestern Adirondacks and the higher elevations of southern Vermont, where 1–4 inches are possible through late evening.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including Old Forge, Newcomb, and northern Herkimer County could see 2–3 inches, with localized totals up to 4 inches in the highest peaks. Elsewhere, most lower-elevation communities—including Albany, Pittsfield, Poughkeepsie, Springfield, and the Hudson Valley—will see only a dusting to under an inch, if any.

Snow and rain showers will become more widespread later this morning into the afternoon, with the best chance of snow north of I-90 and across elevated terrain. Showers across the mid-Hudson Valley and northwest Connecticut are more likely to fall as rain.

Temperatures will remain seasonably chilly, with forecast highs ranging from the mid-30s in the Adirondacks and southern Vermont to the low and mid-40s from Albany southward. Cities including Syracuse, Ithaca, and Binghamton should remain on the mild side, reaching the mid-40s to upper 40s.

Drivers traveling through the Adirondacks, southern Vermont, or elevated routes such as Route 9 and Route 8 should be prepared for brief reductions in visibility and slushy conditions at times. Roads in valleys and urban areas are expected to remain mostly wet.
