Albany, NY – Patchy morning fog and scattered snow showers are bringing a cool, cloudy start to the day across Upstate New York, with temperatures struggling to reach the upper 40s.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, dense fog developed early Monday morning, particularly across valleys and low-lying areas, reducing visibility and prompting caution for morning commuters. The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning, giving way to mostly cloudy skies and breezy conditions throughout the day.
Temperatures will remain cool, with highs ranging from the mid-30s in the Adirondacks to the low 50s in parts of the Hudson Valley. Albany is forecast to reach 49°F, while Glens Falls and Binghamton may see 47°F. Snow showers are possible through the northern Adirondacks, including Old Forge and Newcomb, where highs will remain in the 30s.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution due to shifting visibility and slick roads. Safety tips include using low-beam headlights, reducing speed, and increasing following distances. Winds will also pick up through the afternoon, adding to travel concerns in exposed areas.
Today’s conditions are typical for early spring in the region but serve as a reminder of New York’s variable late-March weather patterns.
