Albany, N.Y. – A chilly night is ahead for the western Adirondacks, where a Frost Advisory remains in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s, bringing the risk of frost that could damage sensitive outdoor plants.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, overnight lows will range from 32 to 36 degrees in locations including Old Forge, Piseco, and Lake Placid. The advisory urges residents to take steps now to protect gardens, crops, and other vegetation from potential frost damage.
Areas outside the Adirondacks will also see a sharp cooldown, though not as severe. Cities such as Albany, Poughkeepsie, and Pittsfield are expected to drop into the low 40s overnight, while Glens Falls may see upper 30s before sunrise.
The weather service advises residents to cover outdoor plants or bring them inside if possible. Livestock owners should also prepare for cooler conditions in open fields. Drivers in higher elevations may also notice patchy frost on windshields early Tuesday morning.
The Frost Advisory is set to expire by 8 a.m. Tuesday, but additional advisories could be issued later this week if cold nighttime conditions persist.
