Albany, NY – Rain showers are tapering off across Upstate New York this morning, leaving gusty winds and elevated fire risks in their wake. As the cold front pushes through, conditions along the Hudson Valley, including areas south of I-90, will remain dry and windy. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning today to prevent the spread of fires.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany, scattered rain showers will diminish by mid-morning. Winds will increase out of the northwest at 15–22 mph, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph in some areas. These conditions, combined with low humidity, are expected to create a heightened risk of wildfires. The NWS advises caution for those in western Connecticut, Massachusetts, and the Mohawk Valley.
The week ahead promises a mix of sunshine and cooler temperatures. Tuesday will see clear skies with highs near 54°F and lows around 34°F. By midweek, mostly sunny conditions will persist with a high of 53°F on Wednesday. However, rain returns late Wednesday night, leading to widespread showers on Thursday with a high of 47°F.
Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures will stay in the mid-40s with lingering clouds and occasional light rain. For residents traveling or planning outdoor activities, checking local weather updates is advised as conditions could change.
Stay safe and plan accordingly this week as fall weather transitions into winter-like patterns.
