Marquette, Michigan – A hazy sky is expected to linger across Michigan today, July 20, with wildfire smoke aloft mixing down to the surface, creating a smoky smell for many residents. Highs will range from 65°F to 77°F, with cooler temperatures near the shores of Lake Superior. As conditions remain dry under high pressure, the smoke could affect air quality in parts of the Upper Peninsula.

According to the National Weather Service, the smoke drifting from ongoing wildfires is expected to remain elevated through the day, but some of it may lower to the ground, impacting visibility and air quality. People with respiratory issues should take precautions and avoid outdoor activities if possible.

Looking ahead, the weather will gradually improve with drier conditions on Monday. Highs will range from 74°F to 82°F, with temperatures coolest near the lakes. The day will remain mostly sunny with an increase in cloud cover late in the afternoon.

By Tuesday, scattered showers and storms are expected to develop, particularly in the western parts of the state. Temperatures will be warmer, with highs ranging from 80°F to 87°F.

Stay alert for any updates and continue to monitor air quality conditions.
