Minneapolis, Minn. – The Upper Midwest will hold onto a stretch of unseasonably warm, dry weather through October 14, providing favorable conditions for outdoor fall activities and Halloween preparations. Temperatures will stay several degrees above average, while rainfall chances remain low across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, the 8-to-14-day outlook highlights above-normal warmth paired with below-normal precipitation across Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, and northern Iowa. This means more sunshine and fewer interruptions from storm systems during the second week of October.

Cities including Minneapolis, Fargo, and Madison should see highs in the upper 60s to low 70s — comfortable for apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and outdoor decorating. However, the drier pattern could stall peak foliage color and elevate grassfire risks in open areas. Local officials recommend avoiding unnecessary outdoor burning as vegetation continues to dry out.

This pattern is expected to hold firm through October 14, with no major cooling trend likely until later in the month.
