TWIN CITIES, Minn. – A weak cold front will pass through Minnesota today, bringing scattered light showers this afternoon and evening before clearing overnight. The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities reports that rainfall amounts will be minimal—generally less than a tenth of an inch—but the front will usher in slightly cooler and drier air for Sunday.

According to the NWS Twin Cities office, showers will develop after noon, first west of I-35 and spreading east toward the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin by late afternoon. Most activity will taper off before midnight, leaving behind partly cloudy skies. Temperatures today will range from the mid-50s to mid-60s, close to seasonal averages for mid-October.

Sunday will turn cooler with highs in the upper 50s under breezy northwest winds. The early week trend remains mild, with sunshine returning Monday and Tuesday before another weak front approaches midweek.

Commuters in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding suburbs should expect damp roads for a few hours late today but no significant travel issues. The overall pattern favors near-normal fall temperatures and mainly dry weather into next week.
