Grand Forks, N.D. – A wave of steady rain is expected to move across eastern North Dakota into northwest Minnesota overnight, with the highest chances for showers and isolated thunderstorms occurring south of Highway 2 until noon Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the disturbance will enter from Montana late Thursday and continue eastward, bringing rainfall amounts ranging from 0.25 to 1 inch in some areas. The most significant precipitation is forecast between midnight and noon Friday, especially for cities like Fargo, Valley City, and Wahpeton. No severe weather is expected with this system.
Drivers along I-29 and Highway 200 may encounter wet roads during the Friday morning commute, with reduced visibility in areas of heavier rain. While lightning and brief downpours are possible, damaging winds and hail are not anticipated. Residents in the affected region are encouraged to check local radar and delay travel if visibility becomes limited.
Rain chances taper off by late afternoon Friday, with drier and slightly cooler conditions expected heading into the weekend. Additional updates may be issued if rainfall intensifies in localized areas.
