Marquette, Mich. – Afternoon thunderstorms are set to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and reduced visibility across Upper Michigan today, with conditions lingering into midweek. Drivers should prepare for wet roads and possible ponding during the late-day commute, especially in the eastern half of the Upper Peninsula.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, followed by a humid night with lows between 60 and 68 degrees. Monday’s storms will mostly impact the eastern half of the region, keeping highs in the 80 to 85-degree range. Patchy morning fog may slow travel early in the week, particularly along lakeshore routes.
Showers could return Monday night into Tuesday, with Tuesday afternoon bringing another round of thunderstorms and highs near the mid-80s. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak storm periods and keep devices charged in case of isolated power outages.
Warm, unsettled conditions will hold through at least Wednesday, with additional advisories possible if storms intensify.
