Marquette, Mich. – Another stretch of warm sunshine will give way to unsettled skies as the Upper Peninsula braces for a round of storms by midweek. Temperatures climbed into the mid-80s across the western interior Monday, but showers and thunderstorms are expected to return Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, highs Tuesday will stay seasonably warm, ranging from the upper 70s near Lake Superior to the mid-80s inland. By Wednesday, south-central areas could see the hottest readings of the week, reaching near 86 degrees, before scattered storms develop in the afternoon.

Residents in Marquette, Escanaba, and Iron Mountain should be prepared for quick downpours and gusty winds Wednesday evening. Thursday will trend cooler, with highs falling into the mid-60s to low 70s and lingering shower chances.

Drivers are urged to watch for slick roads during storm activity, while boaters on Lake Superior should monitor conditions closely as winds increase midweek. The NWS advises keeping devices charged and avoiding outdoor plans Wednesday afternoon into the night.

Storm chances are expected to taper by late Thursday, though additional updates may follow if patterns shift.
