Marquette, Mich. – Residents across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula should prepare for strong thunderstorms moving in Friday evening, with the potential for damaging wind gusts and hail before conditions improve by Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) has been issued by the Storm Prediction Center, signaling a 5 to 14 percent chance of severe weather. Storms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, with heavier activity possible after 4 p.m.

Storm warnings are expected to expire overnight, but residents are urged to stay alert to changing weather conditions as storms move through.
