Marquette, Mich. – Drivers across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula could face patchy dense fog this morning and again tonight, reducing visibility on highways and rural roads from Marquette to Houghton.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, areas of fog may develop overnight in central and western Upper Michigan, including Alger, Luce, Gogebic, and Delta counties. Reduced visibility is expected to impact drivers along U.S. 41, M-28, and other major roadways during the late-night and early morning hours.

While no other hazardous weather is expected through Tuesday, officials advise caution when traveling, especially in low-lying areas and near Lake Superior where fog tends to thicken. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low beams, and allow extra time for commutes.

Conditions should improve Thursday with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s. A chance of scattered thunderstorms will return Friday afternoon into Friday night before clearing again Saturday.

Fog concerns will diminish after tonight, but residents are encouraged to stay alert for changing conditions during the evening hours.
