Iron Mountain, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Dickinson and Menominee Counties from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, as forecasters warn of light snow and strong winds making travel hazardous throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, total snow accumulations are expected to reach up to 2 inches, with wind gusts as high as 45 mph. While snow totals will be minor, the combination of gusty winds and slick roads could make both the morning and evening commutes challenging.

Forecasters caution that blowing snow may briefly reduce visibility on open stretches of road, especially in rural areas. The strong winds could also bring down small branches and make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution on bridges and overpasses, which may freeze first. The advisory covers key travel corridors near Iron Mountain, Norway, and Menominee.

Conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday night as snow tapers off and winds gradually subside across the region.
