Marquette, MI – Residents across Upper Michigan are experiencing unseasonably warm weather this week, with forecasters warning that record-high temperatures could be broken by Friday and Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, southerly winds are bringing in warmer air, keeping much of the region well above average for early October. Highs today are expected to reach 72 to 83 degrees in the western and central U.P., with slightly cooler conditions of 68 to 74 degrees along the eastern side.
Forecasters noted a slight chance of showers tonight, especially in northern areas, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 50s to lower 60s.
The warm trend continues Friday with highs in the low 80s, followed by even hotter conditions on Saturday, where some locations could see highs near 88 degrees. Humidity levels are also expected to rise, making it feel warmer than normal for this time of year.
By Sunday, temperatures are forecast to ease slightly, with highs ranging from the mid-70s to lower 80s. Despite the drop, conditions will still be significantly warmer than seasonal averages.
Officials say the warmth could pose challenges for outdoor events and fall activities. NWS encourages residents to stay hydrated and prepare for the possibility of record-breaking conditions at the end of the week.
