Marquette, MI – Residents across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula can expect unseasonably warm weather this week, with the potential for record-breaking high temperatures Friday and Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, skies will gradually clear after some lingering clouds today, giving way to sunny and dry conditions Thursday. Highs are forecast to reach between 68 and 82 degrees Thursday, with overnight lows in the upper 40s to 50s.
By Friday, humid air will move into the region, bringing warmer temperatures and a slight chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Forecast highs range from 73 to 83 degrees, with nighttime lows in the 50s to low 60s.
Saturday is expected to bring the highest temperatures of the stretch, with highs between 78 and 85 degrees — well above average for early October in the Upper Peninsula. Rain chances increase, particularly Saturday night, as conditions turn more unsettled.
Forecasters note that the unusual warmth could result in several daily high temperature records being broken, particularly Friday and Saturday. Residents are advised to monitor updates as weather conditions shift heading into the weekend.
After the warm spell, more seasonal conditions are expected to return early next week.
