Marquette, MI – Lake effect snow showers continued across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula early Monday as Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings remained in effect for the northern tier of the U.P. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Marquette, hazardous travel conditions are possible throughout the day due to reduced visibility and accumulating snow near Lake Superior.

Temperatures will range from the low 30s to upper 30s Monday, with wind chills dipping into the 20s. The NWS expects conditions to gradually improve Tuesday as temperatures moderate, climbing into the mid-40s. However, scattered rain and snow showers are forecast to persist through midweek before a clearer and milder pattern arrives by Thursday and Friday.

The NWS urges drivers to use caution on snow-covered roads, especially in Marquette, Houghton, and Alger Counties, where the heaviest lake effect bands may linger into the afternoon.

Warmer temperatures later this week are expected to help reduce snow accumulation, bringing a brief reprieve before additional mixed precipitation returns over the weekend.
