Marquette, MI – The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, warning of lake effect snow and slippery travel conditions from 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Monday.

According to forecasters, 1 to 4 inches of snow are expected across Delta, Luce, and Northern Schoolcraft Counties, including the cities of Newberry, Gladstone, Seney, and Escanaba. Roads could become slick, especially during heavier snow bands and overnight hours.

Meteorologists noted that lake effect snow can vary greatly across short distances, with rapid changes in visibility and accumulation possible as bands shift. Drivers are urged to use extra caution, particularly during the Monday morning and evening commutes, when travel impacts are expected to be greatest.

Residents should prepare for changing weather and road conditions, allow additional time for travel, and stay updated through the weekend as new forecast information becomes available.

Road conditions can be checked anytime by dialing 511 or visiting Michigan’s official travel site.
