Marquette, Michigan – Thunderstorms are expected to redevelop across central and eastern Upper Michigan Thursday afternoon, followed by a surge of dangerous heat with “feels like” temperatures pushing toward 100° by Saturday. A marginal risk for severe weather remains in place, with large hail and damaging winds possible.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, the highest risk of storms arrives late Thursday into Friday morning, particularly in Marquette, Delta, and Alger counties. Rain chances linger into the weekend, but the main concern quickly shifts to rising heat and humidity. Parts of the central and western U.P. have a 50% or greater chance of heat indices exceeding 90° on Friday and Saturday, with localized spots hitting triple digits.

Thursday: Scattered thunderstorms expected mainly after 2 p.m. High near 83° with light winds.
Friday: Mostly sunny and hot. High near 86° with a 30% chance of evening showers.
Saturday: Dangerous heat with highs near 90°, humid, and storm chances returning by evening.
Sunday: Partly sunny and slightly cooler, but still humid. High near 84°.
Monday: Another round of showers possible, mainly in the afternoon. High in the low 80s.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and keep weather alerts active as storm chances return through the weekend. Heat and thunderstorm risks continue into early next week, with updates expected Friday morning.
