Marquette, MI – Residents across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula can expect a warm but windy Sunday before a cold front ushers in showers and possible thunderstorms tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, temperatures will rise into the upper 70s and low 80s today, accompanied by southerly winds gusting over 40 mph in some areas. By this evening, a cold front will sweep through the region, bringing scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in western and central U.P. counties.

Overnight lows will dip into the mid-40s to low 50s as the front passes. Monday will be considerably cooler, with highs in the lower 60s and partly cloudy skies expected. The rest of the week looks dry and seasonable, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s through Wednesday.

Drivers are urged to use caution on north-south highways as strong crosswinds may impact travel this afternoon. Boaters on Lake Superior should also be aware of choppy conditions and hazardous waves.

Cooler fall weather is expected to settle in by midweek, marking a return to more typical early October conditions.
