Marquette, Michigan – Mostly dry skies will wrap up the Memorial Day weekend across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, but residents in interior areas should prepare for patchy frost as temperatures dip into the 30s Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, lows tonight will range from 34°F to 42°F under mostly clear skies, with frost possible especially in low-lying inland areas. Memorial Day will see a slight chance of isolated showers, but overall dry conditions are expected with highs from 50°F to 71°F—cooler along the Lake Superior shoreline.
Interior towns like Iron River, Gwinn, and Crystal Falls should be alert for frost-sensitive plants and take precautions such as covering gardens or bringing pots indoors. Lakeshore communities, including Marquette and Munising, will remain cooler during the day due to onshore winds.
By Monday night, conditions will stay partly cloudy with lows in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Temperatures are expected to gradually return to near-normal levels by midweek, but no significant rain is in the immediate forecast.
Another update is expected early Monday morning as isolated showers develop.
