Marquette, MI – The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued Winter Weather Advisories covering much of the Upper Peninsula as rounds of snow continue to move through the region, creating slick travel conditions for both the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

An advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. EST Tuesday, December 9, for Luce and Southern Schoolcraft Counties, including Newberry and Manistique, where an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected overnight.

A separate advisory begins Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. CST and continues through 6 a.m. Wednesday, impacting Gogebic, Iron, Dickinson, and Menominee Counties. Forecasters expect 2 to 5 inches of snow, with the heaviest totals near the Michigan–Wisconsin border.

The NWS warns of slippery roads and reduced visibility, particularly on U.S. Highways 2 and 41, and M-28, which could make travel hazardous during the morning and evening rush hours.

Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distances, and allow extra travel time. Conditions should improve late Wednesday as snow tapers off and winds shift.
