Marquette, MI – A mix of freezing drizzle, snow, and gusty winds will create hazardous travel conditions across Upper Michigan through the weekend. Drivers should prepare for slippery roads tonight and significant snowfall by Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), areas of freezing drizzle could develop tonight, especially in higher terrain, making roads slick. By Thursday night, temperatures will drop, and a more widespread snow event will move in, with up to half an inch of accumulation. The heaviest snowfall is expected Friday, bringing wet snow and blowing conditions, particularly along US-41 and US-2.

Friday’s high will reach near 32°F, but strong north winds up to 25 mph could lead to drifting snow. Snow showers will continue into Friday night, with blustery conditions and lows around 11°F.

For the weekend, Saturday will bring lingering snow showers and a high near 18°F before clearing overnight. Sunday will be sunny but cold, with highs only reaching 26°F.

Motorists should drive cautiously, especially on elevated roads, and check for updated travel advisories. Warmer temperatures return Monday, but more snow is possible early next week. Stay tuned for updates as conditions develop.
