Marquette, MI – A powerful winter storm will hit Upper Michigan on Sunday night, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and subzero wind chills into early next week. Officials warn of dangerous travel conditions and advise residents to prepare now.

According to the National Weather Service, 7 to 12 inches of snow will accumulate by Monday evening, with the heaviest totals along US-41 and M-28. Winds up to 30 mphwill cause significant blowing snow, reducing visibility and making roads treacherous.

Wind chills will plummet to -25°F by early Tuesday, increasing the risk of frostbite for those outdoors. The cold will persist through the week, with another round of lake-effect snow possible Wednesday.

Travelers should check road conditions before heading out and carry emergency supplies. Officials urge residents to dress in layers and limit time outside to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.

By Friday, temperatures are expected to moderate, bringing some relief from the Arctic blast. Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve.
