Marquette, MI – Snow continues to spread across Michigan tonight, with lake effect snow showers expected to intensify through Monday morning, leading to slippery travel and reduced visibility from the Upper Peninsula to the Saginaw Bay region.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Marquette and Detroit/Pontiac, an additional 3 to 6 inches of snow is likely across parts of the central U.P., particularly near the Marquette and Alger County line, where heavy bands will persist overnight. Lighter snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible across Bay, Saginaw, and Tuscola counties, with locally higher totals under stronger lake effect bands.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for these regions, warning of difficult travel conditions late tonight and during the Monday morning commute. Untreated roads may become slick and visibility could drop quickly during heavier bursts of snow.

Forecasters expect snow to gradually taper from west to east Monday afternoon, though lingering flurries and freezing temperatures will maintain hazardous travel into the evening. Drivers are urged to use caution and allow extra time for travel.
