Chicago, IL – Northern Illinois residents can expect warm and humid weather to persist through early next week, with a potential break in the heat coming on Tuesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted that chances for showers and storms will continue today in northeastern Illinois, with a heightened possibility near the Wisconsin state line from Sunday night through Monday night.
According to the NWS, today’s temperatures will range between 84 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, with a stray shower possible in northeastern Illinois. The humidity will make it feel even warmer, so residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
Sunday’s forecast predicts even higher temperatures, reaching up to 91 degrees with partly cloudy skies and a low around 70 degrees at night. By Monday, the chance of storms increases, particularly near the Wisconsin state line, with highs again in the mid-80s to lower 90s.
Tuesday marks a significant change as a storm system is expected to move through, bringing cooler temperatures. The high for Tuesday is anticipated to be around 74 to 84 degrees with a 45% chance of rain, primarily south of Interstate 80.
The latter part of the week will see a return to more comfortable conditions. Wednesday’s forecast shows partly sunny skies with a high of 77 degrees. Thursday and Friday are expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
