Tampa Bay, FL – West-central Florida, including the Tampa Bay area, is facing catastrophic storm surge impacts as Hurricane Milton approaches. The National Weather Service warns that surge levels could reach up to 9 feet in some areas, particularly along low-lying coastal communities. Extensive damage to marinas, docks, and near-shore roads is expected, with widespread flooding making some escape routes impassable.

Residents in surge-prone areas are urged to evacuate and follow all local emergency management orders. The threat of structural damage from water breaching dunes and seawalls is high, and those remaining in vulnerable areas could face life-threatening conditions.

According to officials, the storm surge will coincide with strong winds, increasing the risk of severe damage. Tampa’s coastal neighborhoods, including St. Petersburg and Clearwater, are particularly at risk. The National Weather Service advises all residents to finalize their preparations immediately.
