Charleston, WV – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of central West Virginia, bringing snow and high winds to the area through Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, residents in Upshur, Barbour, Southeast Nicholas, Southeast Webster, and Northwest Randolph counties can expect an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph may cause downed branches, creating risks of power outages.

Roads are likely to be slippery, particularly during the morning commute, with visibility reduced in snow showers. Travelers are urged to use caution and allow extra time for their journeys.

The advisory is set to expire at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
