Monroe, NC – Law enforcement agencies across the region came together this week in Union County for advanced tactical training aimed at preparing officers for high-risk incidents. The Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) hosted a Basic SWAT School at its training facility, designed to test officers’ skills in teamwork, decision-making, and real-world response under pressure.

According to the UCSO, 10 participants from three agencies—the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Gaston County Police Department, and Waxhaw Police Department—took part in the intensive program. The weeklong course included tactical response drills and scenario-based exercises simulating critical incidents.

Sheriff’s officials said they’re honored that regional partners continue to trust UCSO with advanced tactical preparation. “Our diverse instructor cadre and state-of-the-art facilities allow us to keep training in-house while maintaining some of the top-rated law enforcement programs in North Carolina,” the department noted.

The agency also operates other specialized programs, including the Detention Officer Certification Course, consistently ranked among the state’s top training schools.

UCSO emphasized that professional development and rigorous preparedness remain central to its mission to serve and protect the community with excellence.
