Monroe, NC – A coordinated fugitive task force operation led to the arrest of a homicide suspect in Monroe earlier this week, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

According to officials, the United States Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force, a Monroe Police Department Task Force Officer, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office S.H.I.E.L.D. Unit located and apprehended Lashawn Dupree Jones Jarrett, who was wanted in connection with a 2022 Horry County, South Carolina, homicide case.

Authorities said Jarrett had previously been released on bond in that case and was scheduled to appear in court on November 3, 2025. He allegedly failed to appear, prompting a warrant to be issued for his arrest on November 4, 2025.

Investigators conducted a joint search and eventually found Jarrett hiding in Monroe on November 17, 2025, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Union County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office credited the multi-agency collaboration for the successful apprehension, noting that the partnership between local law enforcement and the regional fugitive task force continues to play a key role in public safety.

“We are grateful for the continued partnership with the United States Marshal Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force and our local law enforcement agencies,” the statement said. Officials added that these efforts help ensure Union County remains one of the safest counties in North Carolina.

Residents with information about ongoing investigations are encouraged to contact local authorities.
