Deputies said the incident began when they attempted to stop a vehicle allegedly traveling more than 40 mph over the posted speed limit. The driver, identified by deputies as Brandi Napier, allegedly refused to pull over, leading authorities on a short pursuit. Stop sticks were deployed, bringing the vehicle to a halt in a nearby cornfield. Deputies said Napier and her passenger, Darious Callis, then fled on foot into the woods.
According to the sheriff’s office, a Stallings Police Department K9 team responded and quickly began tracking the suspects. Deputies said the K9 located Napier in a wooded area, where she was safely detained.
At the same time, sheriff’s office drone operators scanned the surrounding terrain from above. Deputies reported that the drone team located Callis lying on the ground in an attempt to hide before he was taken into custody.
