Portland, OR – A coast-to-coast stretch of snow is expected late this week as storm systems impact multiple U.S. regions from Thursday into Friday, bringing a mix of rain, wind, and light to moderate snowfall.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, a Pacific storm will move across the Northwest through Thursday, delivering low-elevation rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snow across parts of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Snow levels are expected to dip in higher elevations, making for slick mountain passes and reduced visibility.

Meanwhile, another system crossing the Northeast will continue to bring gusty to high winds, scattered rain, and limited snow showers into New England through Thursday night. Areas across Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire may see light accumulations in elevated terrain.

Between these two systems, parts of the Upper Midwest—including Wisconsin, Minnesota, and northern Michigan—could also experience spotty snow showers as colder air filters in behind the front.

Meteorologists say this setup marks one of the first widespread signs of winter, with snow chances spanning more than 2,000 miles from Maine to Oregon. However, accumulations are expected to remain light for most areas.

Drivers in higher elevations or northern states are urged to monitor updated forecasts and plan for changing road conditions Thursday into Friday.
