Jerusalem – Tuesday — Less than 24 hours after overnight missile attacks sent millions of Israelis into bomb shelters, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem announced it is not in a position to evacuate or directly assist Americans seeking to leave the country.

“It’s after midnight, and millions of Israelis have once again been sent running to bomb shelters,” Israeli officials said as air defense systems intercepted incoming projectiles targeting civilian areas.

Amid the escalating violence, the embassy issued a notice stating that U.S. citizens must make their own security plans. “The U.S. Embassy is not in a position at this time to evacuate or directly assist Americans in departing Israel,” the statement said.

The advisory follows renewed missile launches from Iran targeting Israeli cities, according to the Israel Defense Forces, with multiple explosions reported overnight as defense systems engaged.

The embassy said Israel’s Ministry of Tourism has begun operating shuttles to the Taba Border Crossing into Egypt as of March 2. Americans wishing to depart using that option must register through the ministry’s evacuation form. The U.S. government, however, said it cannot recommend the shuttle and cannot guarantee travelers’ safety.

No U.S.-organized evacuation flights have been announced.

Americans in Israel are urged to monitor official embassy communications and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for updates as the security situation continues to evolve.

Further advisories are expected as missile exchanges continue.
