Kankakee, IL – U.S. Marshals arrested 45-year-old Bennie Stroud III in Arizona on Wednesday in connection to a February murder. Stroud was wanted for the killing that took place on the 700 block of South Osborn Avenue in Kankakee.

The U.S. Marshals Great Lake Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with the U.S. Marshals East Valley Task Force in Phoenix, tracked down Stroud. He was apprehended in Mesa, Arizona, and is being held there while awaiting extradition to Illinois.

According to the Kankakee Police Department, Stroud allegedly committed the murder on February 11. His capture followed a months-long manhunt across multiple states. Police Chief Christopher Kidwell praised the cooperation between local and federal authorities, crediting their dedication in securing the arrest.

Stroud remains in custody in Arizona, and local law enforcement awaits his extradition to face charges in Illinois. Kankakee authorities continue their investigation into the February 11 homicide, which shocked the community earlier this year.
