Spokane, WA – Several major airports across the United States have declined to air a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) video featuring Republican Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, citing concerns about political content during the ongoing government funding standoff.

According to multiple media reports, airports in Phoenix, Spokane, Portland, Seattle, Cleveland, Buffalo, Charlotte and Los Angeles have joined others in opting not to display the video message in TSA lines. The clip, which blames Democrats in Congress for the federal government shutdown, was initially distributed to airports for internal display screens earlier this week.

Airport officials in several cities told local outlets that they chose to withhold the video to maintain neutrality in federal facilities. “We do not broadcast content that could be interpreted as partisan,” one airport spokesperson said.

The 30-second message features Noem speaking from a DHS backdrop, urging Congress to “fund the federal government,” while alleging Democratic obstruction. TSA screens are typically reserved for travel advisories, safety reminders and holiday messaging—not political statements.

As the federal government shutdown continues to affect airport staffing and operations, the decision to pull the video underscores the growing sensitivity around political communications in public infrastructure spaces.
