Marquette, Mich. – Upper Michigan will see a mix of sun and clouds today after early showers moved northeast this morning. The National Weather Service says a few isolated showers and possibly a thunderstorm could form along a lake breeze in the eastern U.P. this afternoon, with highs reaching the upper 70s to low 80s.

According to forecasters, a cold front moving in Tuesday afternoon will bring a higher chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms, especially in central and eastern Upper Michigan. Gusty winds, brief heavy rain, and lightning are possible during the storms. Highs will range from the upper 70s to mid-80s, with overnight lows in the 50s to low 60s.

Drivers are advised to watch for slick roads during heavier downpours, and boaters on Lake Superior should remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions. The front will clear the area by late Tuesday night, ushering in cooler, drier air.

By Wednesday, skies turn sunny with comfortable highs in the 70s across the region. No additional storm threats are expected midweek, though forecasters note the next round of unsettled weather could arrive by late week.
