CHICAGO, IL – Chicago saw a wave of gun violence over the weekend, with at least 13 people being shot and 2 losing their lives. The fatalities included two teenagers, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy.
The girl, identified as Demea Morris, was shot in the back of her head while sitting in the back seat of a car in the Washington Heights neighborhood. She was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center but was pronounced dead soon after. Meanwhile, the boy, later identified as Daniel Rios, was shot in the abdomen after a verbal altercation in the Dunning neighborhood. He later died at Loyola University Medical Center.
The shootings add to the growing list of gun-related deaths in Chicago. In the past week, 4 people have died due to gun violence while 21 others were shot.
The tragic loss of two teenagers has raised concerns among residents and community leaders, who are demanding action from local authorities to combat the ongoing crisis.
