Two Indiana Women Arrested After Confronting Officers During SWAT Operation

EAST CHICAGO – Tensions soared Thursday as two women were apprehended in East Chicago during a SWAT operation. 

According to reports, Latayazia Washington, 25, of Gary, allegedly threatened Chief Rivera and, after a brief chase, was charged with felony intimidation, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. Tanazia Washington, 26, from East Chicago, also faces charges after allegedly interfering with the arrest process. Both women were part of a large group that approached the officers at the time.

The operation was tied to a previous event in which 94 shots were fired in the area. Adonius Sesson, 20, was taken into custody on an active Lake County warrant for felony possession of a firearm/ machine gun during the incident.

As police continue to investigate, this morning’s altercations highlight the growing concerns about public safety and law enforcement relations in the region.
