Joliet, IL – A serious two-vehicle crash early Monday morning in Joliet has left two drivers hospitalized and prompted an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to a news release from the Joliet Police Department, the crash occurred around 6:09 a.m. at the intersection of Plainfield Road and Voyager Lane. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 23-year-old Plainfield man was driving a Honda Civic southbound on Plainfield Road when he attempted a left turn onto Voyager Lane. During the turn, his vehicle collided with a northbound Toyota Sienna driven by a 57-year-old Joliet woman.
Police noted that the traffic signal for Plainfield Road was green at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders transported the Honda driver to St. Joseph Medical Center, while the Toyota driver was taken to Silver Cross Hospital by the Joliet Fire Department. Both individuals are reportedly in serious condition.
The intersection was temporarily closed as traffic crash investigators examined the scene. The investigation remains active, and anyone with relevant video footage or information is encouraged to contact the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit at (815) 724-3193.
