Duluth, Minnesota – Cold temperatures will hold across the Northland Saturday, with highs only reaching between 5 and 18 degrees, keeping conditions brisk along I-35 and surrounding roadways.

Skies will be partly sunny across northern areas, including Duluth and Two Harbors, while communities farther south toward Hinckley may see more cloud cover. A few light snow showers are possible in southern portions of the region, though significant accumulation is not expected. Even light snow could create isolated slick spots on untreated roads, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours.

Afternoon highs will struggle to climb out of the teens in many locations. Areas closer to Lake Superior may experience slightly moderated temperatures, but wind chills will still make it feel colder. Overnight lows are forecast to drop sharply, ranging from around 18 below zero in colder northern spots to near 1 below zero elsewhere. Drivers along I-35 and MN-61 should be prepared for icy patches developing overnight as temperatures plunge.

Looking ahead, a warming trend begins Monday and continues through midweek. Highs are expected to climb into the 30s Monday and potentially reach the 40s by Wednesday, marking a noticeable shift from the current cold stretch.

Residents are encouraged to dress in layers, limit prolonged outdoor exposure during the coldest periods, and ensure vehicles are winter-ready. While conditions are quiet overall this weekend, the combination of cold air and occasional light snow could still lead to localized travel concerns.
