Duluth, Minnesota – Steamy summer heat and sticky humidity will continue to blanket northern Minnesota through the weekend, with the risk of strong storms peaking Sunday night into Monday. The muggy conditions could trigger heat advisories by Sunday as real-feel temps climb into the 90s.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a widespread round of showers and thunderstorms is likely to arrive late Sunday into early Monday. Scattered storms may begin as early as Saturday evening, especially along the International Border. Highs through Sunday will hover near 90°F in cities like Brainerd, Grand Rapids, and Ely, with dew points making it feel even hotter.

Localized flooding and brief wind gusts could accompany the stronger storms. Outdoor plans may be disrupted, especially late Sunday—residents are urged to stay weather-aware and avoid unnecessary travel during storm hours. Keep phones charged and have alternate shelter plans if camping or boating this weekend.

Relief arrives Monday as a cooler, drier air mass settles in. Highs will fall into the mid-70s across the region through midweek, with decreasing humidity and lower rain chances.

More updates will follow if storm watches or advisories are issued.
